   After parents' death, withdrew with brother Stefan to Makovets forest; took monastic name Sergius and lived as solitary.

2. other — 1345

   Founded Trinity Monastery in wilderness near Radonezh; pioneered cenobitic reform in Russian monasticism.

3. ordained — 1353

   Ordained priest and appointed hegumen by Bishop Athanasius of Volyn.

4. other — 1380

   Blessed Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy before the Battle of Kulikovo against the Golden Horde.

5. died — 1392

   Died at Trinity Monastery; canonized 1452. Relics rediscovered intact in 1422.
